The museum's nationally significant collection covers the main heavy industries of Scotland, with an emphasis on iron, steel, coal and engineering. Objects range from tools, machinery, equipment and work wear to locomotives, trams, a colliery winding engine, as well as social history items relating to the communities that depended on these industries.

Café & Facilities
The café is open during museum opening hours, offering a good selection of hot and cold food, as well as ice-cream and snacks. Picnic areas are available ouside and there's an indoor pinic hut for the days the sun isn't shining.
The museum shop offers a range of souvenirs to make your visit a memorable one and there's the 'Wee Sweetie Shop' where you can choose from a range of 'old favourites' and pick up some delicious homemade fudge.
Children can have fun in our award winning play park and our Reigart Education Suite and Photomedia Studio offer a range of activities and events throughout the year for all ages.
The museum also has conference room facilities.
