Book Week - The Good Dinosaur Film Screening

the good dinosaur

Set in the emotive Lady Victoria Colliery, Denise Bates will speak to us about the backbone of Scottish coalmining commuities - women!  Join us on Wednesday, 23rd November to hear the inspiring and often untold tales of Scotland's women working underground and then, after 1842, at the pithead.  Denise draws upon contemporary sources to examine the social, economic and political factors affecting 19th century female coalmine workers.  Included in this exciting evening Denise will speak about her new and unpublished research about Scottish female miners of 1842, many of whom worked at the Lady Victoria Colliery.   This talk is part of a series of events hosted by National Mining Museum Scotland as part of Book Week Scotland 2016.  Our Gift Shop will remain open during this event - why not browse our books and gifts!   Wine and refreshments provided.

In a world where dinosaurs and humans live side- by- side, an Apatosaurus named Arlo makes an unlikely human friend.  Grab your popcorn and your family and come along for a free film showing of The Good Dinosaur. Film starts at 2.30pm and finishes at 4pm.  Our museum shop will be open and selling copies of The Good Dinosaur book as well as other dino-themed toys and books.  This film has a PG certificate.
