Black Bun Hogmanay Trains

Our famous Black Bun Specials return to the Bo’ness & Kinneil Railway this Hogmanay! Enjoy a nostalgic steam train journey in a cosy carriage, complimentary hot drink and a slice of traditional Hogmanay black bun for the adults and shortbread and juice for the kids will make a perfect family treat to end the year together in style at this unique event.

Black bun is a type of fruit cake completely covered with pastry. It is Scottish in origin, originally eaten on Twelfth Night but now enjoyed at Hogmanay.

Trains will be running from Bo’ness station on the 30th & 31st December 2021 and 2nd & 3rd January 2022 at 10.45, 12.15 & 14.15.  Just be sure to be at the station in plenty of time. Relax aboard our trains and take in the stunning scenery along the shores of the firth of Forth, with views of the majestic Ochil Hills, beautiful woods and waterfalls on a 70 minute return journey to Manuel view point.

New for 2021 – Travel first class! 

We have introduced a new first class ticket option for our Black Bun Trains this year. Our 1950s first class British Railways coaches feature luxurious armchair style seating and appropriate carpets & curtains: a chance to see out the old or bring in the new year in style!

All fares includes a return journey on our wonderful steam train and seasonal refreshments.
