#GoIndustrial this Festival of Museums

Think you know museums? Think again…

There are 100s of events happening in museums across Scotland for Festival of Museums on 18th, 19th and 20th May 2018 – including events at Go Industrial’s museums!

Heavy Metal at Summerlee

Summerlee Museum is getting ready to rock FoM-style with its Heavy Metal event, with live blacksmithing and forging demonstrations. Enjoy curator talks, try your hand at sand casting, get your face painted like a heavy metal icon, and the rock out to the heaviest tunes.

Pirate Takeover at Maritime

The Scottish Maritime Museum is getting taken over by pirates for the day! Families can enjoy face painting, a pirate themed trail, pirate origami, and even an inflatable pirate ship! Visit in full pirate costume and staff will put a piratical twist on the usual talks and tour provided throughout the day.

Fish & Food Fair at Fisheries

The Scottish Fisheries Museum is having a Fish & Food Fair. During the day, visit the free family fair where local fishermen will be on hand to explain their work and show and sell their catch, with lots of craft activities to keep the little ones amused. In the evening, Christopher Trotter, Fife Food Ambassador, will be hosting a live cooking demonstration highlighting Fife's fabulous fishy cornucopia.

Ferret Fun at Almond Valley

Almond Valley will be asking visitors, is that a ferret in your trousers?! Members of the Scottish Ferret Club will introduce visitors to the playful ferret and their love of small dark spaces. There will be ferret talks and ferret stories, and opportunity to make you own ferret toy to hide beneath your jumper.

Other industrial-themed events
