LMS Stationmaster's Hat

This hat belonged to a stationmaster of the London, Midland and Scottish Railway that operated between 1923 and 1947, following the amalgamations of the 1921 Railways Act.  Uniform changed over the years with each company having its own style, often with the company logo on badges, pockets and even jacket buttons.  Railways had a regimented staff structure, offering training and opportunities for promotion.  Generally the more important the position the more gold braid there was on uniform.
