Description

The publication ‘His Majesty’s Minesweepers’ documents the vital work of minesweepers throughout the War. It shows how the crew disposed of mines at sea and the importance of their work abroad such as at the campaign at Dunkirk. The final page of the book explains how, even after VE day, minesweeping vessels would be expected to continue their important work even when hostilities ended; “…in the final victory, even so their work will not be over, for then they must glean from the seas those mines which, still unswept, would remain a menace to peaceful merchantmen.”
