The Discovery Investigations, which began with the Oceanographic Expedition 1925-1927 on board the Discovery set out to investigate the biology of whales in the Southern Ocean. The huge amount of scientific information gathered by the Discovery and other research ships was then collated in a series of reports. Published from 1929 until 1980 these reports made an important contribution to our understanding of whales and their habitats.
