Mhairi Cross

National Mining Museum Scotland

Mhairi Cross has been the CEO at National Mining Museum Scotland for just over a year.  Mhairi has a wealth of experience in the cultural sector, spanning over 20 years.  

Working in local authorities, Mhairi’s achievements include setting up the first contemporary art gallery in Falkirk, establishing artist in resident programmes across educational establishments in North Lanarkshire and developing the Arts and Museum Service in Renfrewshire.  Mhairi also successfully developed the visitor experience within Paisley Museum and the educational programme for children and young people.

Mhairi is currently Vice Chair of Industrial Museums Scotland.  She is also undertaking the Association of Industrial Museums Hallmark Leadership Programme.

Mhairi is an active outdoors enthusiast and enjoys canoeing, kayaking and cycling.  She is an advocate of the ‘maker movement’ and, when time allows, enjoys being creative.
